Boost your metabolism, boost your weight loss

There is an obvious simple formula for weight loss, which is to create a calorie deficit. Simply burn more calories than you consume and you will lose weight. One way we burn calories is with our metabolism, and speeding up your metabolism means speeding up your weight loss. There are many ways you can do this.

Calories are your body's fuel for its daily activities. Calories are what keep your bodies organs working and your energy up. Without taking in a certain number of calories a day, not only would you starve, but your body would begin to cease operating all together. Just like a machine, without the proper fuel, your body can not operate. This is the reason many people find diets very hard to stick to. As you drop your caloric intake, your body begins to think its starving, which will actually slow your metabolism down, because your body is attempting to save the energy it has.

Your body needs a certain caloric intake every day to run at its best. Your metabolism does not run as fast, and your energy will be down, so how are you supposed to maintain a diet plan? You can make some lifestyle changes to boost your metabolism, even while dieting, which can provide just the one-two punch you needed for your fight against fat.

The first area that needs to be looked at is diet. What you eat will dictate how much you can increase your metabolism and start losing weight. As stated above food is the fuel that powers the body. The better the fuel the better the engine will run. What happens if you pour sugar in the gas tank of a car? It clogs up the engine systems and the car will not run right. The same thing will happen to your body when you eat processed and refined foods; it plugs up the body's systems and turns easily into fat.

The best remedy for a slow metabolism when it comes to diet is to eat foods that have a high nutrient value. They are full of vitamins, minerals, complex carbohydrates, and fiber. Some of these foods, particularly the fruits and vegetables, are considered negative calorie foods and actually require more calories to digest then they contain. This means your body actually has to work to process them, so you will burn calories.

The second area that will promote a metabolism boost is exercise. Both cardiovascular and weight training are proven to increase the amount of calories burned not only during the exercise session but also after your workout. The more lean muscle you build, the more calories you will be burning after your workout.

You can cure that slow metabolism by sticking to some simple lifestyle changes. Weight loss is not a one time thing, but will take years of commitment, and establishing a quick burning metabolism will greatly increase your chances of keeping off the weight you lose!
